LeeUSA Speedway Late Model 27 team has a great run in the Turkey Derby.
On thanksgiving evening the LeeUSA Speedway Late Model champion, Bernhardt Automotive / Unique Ford 27 late model and team left for Wall New Jersey to compete in the annual “Turkey Derby”. Friday morning found Mother Nature once again following the Lee competitors. By late morning the weather cleared and Wayne Helliwell Jr. was able to pilot the car into forth place in the time trials for a seventh place starting grid position. The green flag flew and several of the lead cars tangled and Wayne was bumped from behind causing a restart at the tail of the field. By the mid point of the feature the 27 was back up to the front, leading the final 25 laps of the feature. Helliwell went on to win the event in convincing fashion.
